About The Position

This position is responsible for receiving and counting stock items, unpacking delivered goods, and storing them in appropriate locations. The Material Handler will maintain inventory control through continuous tracking and updates, and ensure items are stored properly based on turnover, environmental factors, and facility capabilities. They will also be responsible for labeling goods, cleaning and maintaining supplies and equipment, and inspecting stock for defects. Additionally, the role involves assisting other warehouse workers and potentially using tools to open or crate materials.

Requirements

  • Must have 3+ years of experience working in a warehouse.
  • Must have 1+ years of experience working on an industrial construction project in the warehouse or equivalent material handler position.
  • Must have working knowledge of the basic processes and equipment used in industrial construction.
  • Must be organized and can complete an accurate count of items received.
  • Must have good communication skills, including the ability to read and write effectively.
  • Must be familiar with basic computer operations.
  • Must be able to follow directions.
  • Must be able to use tools such as hammers and drills to open crated materials received or to crate up materials that are scheduled to be shipped.
  • Must be able to meet all physical requirements.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and count stock items and turn in packaging slip to materials clerk with the accurate material count.
  • Unpack delivered goods and store in appropriate location until issue.
  • Notify appropriate department when ordered item has arrived or deliver to appropriate department.
  • Maintain inventory control by continuous tracking and inventory updates.
  • Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses, tool rooms, supply rooms, or other areas.
  • Use identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment to mark all goods.
  • Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Determine proper storage methods, identification, and stock location based on turnover, environmental factors, and physical capabilities of facilities.
  • Keep records on the use and/or damage of stock or stock handling equipment.
  • Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisors.
  • Aid or direct to another stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard workers.
