About The Position

This role is responsible for verifying received items by matching product descriptions, quantities, packaging units, and expiration dates with the putaway document or RF device. The Material Handler will break down products into correct selling units, stock them in the appropriate locations, and note any discrepancies. They will ensure stock rotation for items with expiration dates and learn to utilize RF technology. Damaged products should be moved to the designated damaged area or the spill team should be called. Training will also be provided in other distribution functions like Receiving and Picking. The role may involve participation in special projects and other duties as required. Additionally, employees are expected to meet company standards for work quantity and quality, comply with all company policies and procedures, and adhere to standards of workplace behavior.

Requirements

  • Good reading, writing, math, and computer skills.
  • Good communication (written/verbal) skills.
  • Detail oriented and accountable for making accurate decisions under set guidelines.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work under stress, and handle multiple assignments.
  • Ability to read fine print and differentiate products with similar characteristics (size, color, vendor code).
  • Knowledge of basic warehousing operations preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred, or comparable work experience.
  • Lift, carry or move products up to: 0-25 lbs – Continuous
  • Lift, carry or move products up to: 25 - 50 lbs – Infrequent
  • Pushing/pulling: uses hand jack. 25lbs of force is needed.
  • Gripping and fine hand manipulation: Continuously
  • Twist/bending: Frequently
  • Squatting: Frequently
  • Kneeling: Frequently
  • Reaching overhead: Occasionally
  • Climbing ladders/stepstools: Occasionally
  • Walk/stand on concrete: Continuously
  • Use of Put away/Replenishment cart: Occasionally
  • Utilizes hand tools such as utility knife, pallet jack, RF device and tape gun

Responsibilities

  • Verify received items by matching product description, quantity, packaging unit, and expiration date (where applicable) on the putaway document or RF device, with the product received.
  • Break down products received into correct selling units and put products into correct stocking location, as noted on the putaway document or RF device.
  • Note discrepancies and mark products for review by department team lead or supervisor as appropriate.
  • Ensure items with expiration dates have stock rotated accordingly.
  • Learn to utilize RF technology.
  • If products or inventory are damaged, bring to designated damaged area in Inventory Control or call the spill team as appropriate.
  • Be trained in various distribution functions such as Receiving and Picking.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as required.
  • Meet company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis.
  • Perform all work-related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures including WorldWide Business Standards.
  • Adhere to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments.
