About The Position

Thorgren Tool and Molding Co., Inc. is currently seeking to hire a Material Grinder for 3rd shift at our location in Valparaiso, IN! The Material Grinder retrieves material in runner totes from production floor and grinds material throughout the entire shift. This position is also responsible for accurately labeling and separating all scrap to avoid cross contamination of material.

Requirements

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
Understanding and safe operation of mechanical tools and grinding equipment
Ability to establish priorities and proceed with position objectives without supervision
Ability to work overtime, as needed
Ability to maintain punctuality and good attendance behaviors, as set by the Absentee Control Program
Ability to function well in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently and complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision
Positive attitude and ability to work well with others
Must be able to stand, bend, twist and crouch and lift periodically throughout the shift.
Requires considerable use of hands, arms, and legs.
Must be able to frequently lift 16 to 40 pounds, occasionally lifting up to or more than 50 pounds and stand and move for long periods of time throughout an 8 hour shift.

Nice To Haves

6 months – 1 year of relevant manufacturing experience, preferred
Current forklift certification or ability to obtain certification, preferred

Responsibilities

Grind material
Collect all runners and runner totes from the machines on the Production floor throughout shift
Set up and safely operate standard grinding equipment within Grinding Room
Accurately identifying barrels and gaylords of re-grind
Ensure totes are identified with correct material content
Pick up scrap totes from all machines throughout the shift
Accurately recording grinding production and submitting to proper personnel
Assisting Floor Supervisor with Machine Operator breaks each shift
Sweep and maintain cleanliness of Grinding Room throughout shift, including blowing out the inside of grinders when switching to other materials to avoid cross contamination
Comply with all safety guidelines and procedures
Perform other job duties, as required or assigned
