Material Flow / Process Engineer - Logistics

Magna International•Mesa, AZ

About The Position

The Material Flow / Process Engineer is responsible for designing, planning, and implementing optimized material flow, packaging, and equipment processes within Division Mesa. The role balances regulatory requirements, customer specifications, material management strategies, and production constraints. It includes logistics calculations for new products and model updates, and defining packaging standards, material handling equipment, headcount, and facility specifications to support end-to-end material flow activities. From a supply chain engineering perspective, the position designs the end-to-end value stream and drives integration of new products by combining material flow engineering, custom packaging development, and material handling equipment planning. Lean Management principles, MTM (Methods-Time Measurement), and time studies are used to improve synchronized material flows, minimize risks, optimize warehouse and line-side space, reduce lead times, and support operational and strategic objectives. The engineer plans and coordinates logistics, packaging, and equipment projects; optimizes processes using a PFEP (Plan for Every Part) approach; develops packaging and equipment concepts and related documentation; and creates logistics, packaging, and equipment inputs and cost calculations for new business proposals. The role also supports logistics IT systems and ensures alignment with central logistics guidelines, customer packaging manuals, and MAFACT requirements.
