About The Position

The Materials Flow Manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end movement of materials throughout the supply chain including outbound coordination with the offsite sub assembly production through inbound receiving at production facility and materials availability at the production line. This role ensures materials are available where and when needed, while minimizing inventory costs, maximizing efficiency, and supporting production and customer delivery goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5–10+ years of experience in materials management, logistics, or supply chain operations
  • 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (AS400 preferred)
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead process improvements and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve material flow processes across both facilities
  • Ensure efficient movement of raw materials, WIP (work-in-progress), and finished goods
  • Implement lean principles to suggest inventory levels to support production without under/overstocking
  • Drive system improvements to ensure tact time adherence
  • Analyze demand forecasts and production schedules to align material availability
  • Implement best practice for material presentation to the production line
  • Establish and enforce inventory control procedures
  • Monitor inventory turns, obsolete stock, and excess materials
  • Work in coordination with Purchasing Manager to reduce carrying costs while maintaining service levels
  • Collaborate with production, planning, and scheduling teams to ensure timely material availability
  • Identify and resolve material shortages or bottlenecks
  • Support lean manufacturing initiatives such as Kanban, pull systems, and just-in-time (JIT) processes
  • Oversee storage, and internal distribution of materials
  • Optimize materials storage and line side layout for efficiency and safety
  • Manage inbound and internal logistics to reduce handling time and costs
  • Lead continuous improvement projects focused on flow, efficiency, and waste reduction
  • Apply lean principles and tools (e.g., value stream mapping, 5S, root cause analysis)
  • Track and report KPIs such as on-time delivery, inventory accuracy, and lead times
  • Drive digitalization or automation initiatives where applicable
  • Lead, mentor, and develop materials, warehouse, and logistics team members
  • Set performance goals and monitor team productivity
  • Ensure compliance with safety and operational standards
  • Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
