About The Position
The Material Estimator will review material needs for quote opportunities. This position is responsible for obtaining competitive price quotations for various projects and creating a complete costed bill of materials, which will establish the standard material cost used in a formal price quotation.
Requirements
- High school degree
- Good organization, communication skills
- Proficiency in Excel and math skill
- Attention to detail and multitasking
Responsibilities
- Utilize quoting software to obtain and review vendor pricing information.
- Understand the project requirements
- Determine key variables of cost and other estimates as it relates to component information such as price, availability, lead time, life cycle status, excess material and minimum order quantities.
- Obtain and review quotes from suppliers
- Perform risk analysis
- Select winning bids and complete material estimates, thereby establishing standards
- Communicate issues and special condition of pricing
- Build working relationships with key suppliers
- Work with Engineering and Buyers to drive accuracy and competitiveness
