Sets up and operates metal fabricating machines such as brakes, shears and presses, to cut, bend, straighten, and form metal plates, sheets, and structural shapes. This role involves reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering specifications, and shop orders to determine machine setup, production methods, and sequence of operation. The Material Coordinator will select, position, and secure tooling and fixtures, and adjust machine controls to set machining factors. They will also position workpieces, start the machine, observe operation, and inspect or measure the work. Documentation of deviations, labeling of parts, and moving them to storage are also key functions. The role requires wearing all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), reporting work-related injuries and near misses, and correcting or reporting unsafe conditions.
