About The Position

This position is based out of our Nisku, AB location. The Material Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating material requirements with project managers, procurement personnel, and production teams. This involves reviewing project schedules and fabrication priorities to ensure material availability, monitoring material shortages, and proactively identifying potential impacts to production. The role also supports project execution teams with material status updates and reporting. Additionally, the Material Coordinator will manage inventory and warehouse operations, including maintaining accurate inventory records, overseeing receiving, storage, handling, and issuance of materials, conducting inventory counts, managing material locations, and ensuring proper storage and preservation of materials. The role also includes coordinating the receipt of various project materials, verifying received materials against documentation, identifying and documenting any issues with materials, and coordinating with Quality Control to ensure material certification and traceability requirements are met.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in materials management, warehousing, logistics, or fabrication operations.
  • Strong understanding of material control, inventory management, and warehouse operations.
  • Experience with ERP systems, inventory management software, and fabrication management platforms such as Tekla PowerFab or SpoolFab.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within structural steel, modular fabrication, industrial construction, or process piping environments preferred.
  • Valid forklift certification considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate material requirements with project managers, procurement personnel, and production teams.

  • Ensure proper storage and preservation of materials.
  • Coordinate receipt of structural steel, piping, fittings, equipment, consumables, and other project materials.
  • Verify received materials against packing slips, purchase orders, and specifications.
  • Identify and document damaged, missing, or non-conforming materials.
  • Coordinate with Quality Control personnel to ensure material certification and traceability requirements are met.
