Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • 3 months of related experience and/or training.
  • Must be able to operate material handling equipment such as forklift, overhead crane, motorized pallet jacks, or manual pallet jacks.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondences, and memos.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic skill level of computer programs such as Microsoft Office are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, store, and distribute materials, tools, equipment, and products within the plant floor areas.
  • Observe and follow all safety rules.
  • Be willing and able to work overtime as an extension to a normal workday or on weekends, as scheduled.
  • Initiate purchase requisitions for materials and supplies as needed.
  • Verify material received against requisition, shipping notices, or invoices.
  • Complete records concerned with quantity and type of material received, stored, and issued in the plant.
  • Use handheld scanner to enter records.
  • Read production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping notices, or invoices to determine irregularities.
  • Convey materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to the designated areas.
  • Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequences such as size, type, style, and color or product code.
  • Fill work orders or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distribute items to production workers or assembly line.
  • Assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets or shelves.
  • Convey order to packing station or shipping department.
  • Mark materials with identifying information.
  • Open bales, crates, and other containers.
  • Record amounts of material or items received or distributed.
  • Weigh or count items for distribution within the plant to ensure conformance to company standards.
  • Operate material handling equipment to transport stored items from warehouse to plant or to pick up items from several locations within the plant for shipment.
  • Prepare parcels for mailing and shipping.
  • Maintain inventory records.
  • Maintain work area to sustain a clean and orderly environment.
  • May train other operators.
  • Other assignments as deemed appropriate by the supervisor.
