About The Position

This role involves performing pressure bonding processes on parts composed of various materials. The Material Bonder A will work from blueprints, Bell Process Specifications, drawings, or written specifications to prepare parts, perform layouts, and assemble, fit, and trim as needed. The position requires the application of liquid or solid bonding agents and the use of production aids like jigs, fixtures, and hand tools. A key responsibility is ensuring the correct selection and application of bonding agents, proper assembly, and fitting. The role also includes operating a pressure furnace, controlling heat, pressure, and timing according to specifications, and monitoring the process to ensure successful bonding and prevent damage. The Material Bonder A is responsible for checking finished articles and ensuring the safe operation of equipment.

Requirements

  • Two years metal fitting or forming experience, one year of which must have been in bonding work including the operation of a pressure furnace, OR two years Bell Material Bonder B or Material Bonder – I classification experience OR one year Bell Material Bonder B experience combined with one year metal fitting or forming experience.
  • Must be a U.S. person within the meaning of ITAR (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee) due to the requirement to use information subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Responsibilities

  • Perform all necessary layouts and prepare parts for pressure bonding process from blueprints, Bell Process Specifications, drawings, or written specifications.
  • Plan operations and perform assembling, fitting, and trimming as required.
  • Apply liquid or solid bonding agents.
  • Use various production aids, such as jigs, fixtures, and hand tools.
  • Check all work to ensure selection and application of proper bonding agent, correct assembly and fitting.
  • Place articles in a pressure furnace and control conditions of heat, pressure, and timing according to specifications.
  • Maintain close watch over furnace controls during the bonding process to ensure successful bond and prevent damage to articles.
  • Check articles when finished.
  • Responsible for safe operation of equipment.
