Requirements

  • Materials and process engineering related background and/or field of study.
  • Knowledge in one or more of the following materials and processes engineering areas of expertise: Metal finishing processes including plating, anodizing, chemical conversion coating; Passivation or organic materials such as paints, adhesives, lubricants, bonding; Components: Circuit Card Assemblies and Printed Wiring Boards (CCAs and PWBs).
  • Eligibility/willingness to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship Required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Physics, Material Sciences, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience conducting problem investigations, failure analysis, and manufacturing operations.
  • Experience developing design, environmental and operational requirements for materials in aerospace applications.
  • Experience reviewing engineering drawings and/or specifications.
  • Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) Program Experience.
  • Knowledge of environmental and operational requirements for materials in missile applications.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing engineers on the floor and working with suppliers.
  • Experience in participating in major program milestone reviews such as PDR and CDR.
  • Supplier auditing experience.
  • Green or Black Belt with continuous improvement experience.
  • Active or Current Top Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Work on a broad range of projects in both laboratory and manufacturing environments.
  • Develop and evaluate new and advanced technology to survive in hostile environments.
  • Select Parts, Materials, and Processes (PMP) on new designs.
  • Gain hands-on manufacturing experience of the next satellite.
  • Provide oversight to an extensive supply chain providing products critical to Mission Success.
  • Perform Materials and Processes (M&P) technical engineering assignments.
  • Solve problems and find creative solutions.
  • Participate in the selection, qualification, testing, and failure analysis of materials & processes.
  • Prepare technical and progress reports.
  • Prepare specifications, evaluate suppliers, and analyze test reports.
  • Coordinate with other fields such as Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement.
