About The Position

The Master Technician is responsible for maintaining service operations by inspecting and maintaining vehicles. This role involves performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical systems, and ensuring vehicles meet state requirements. The technician will also maintain vehicle records, keep shop equipment operational, and manage costs by utilizing warranties and evaluating service options. Continuous learning through educational opportunities and technical publications is expected.

Requirements

  • Experience in inspecting and maintaining vehicles.
  • Proficiency in performing preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to test systems and parts to diagnose issues.
  • Skill in repairing mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of vehicle components and replacement procedures.
  • Ability to conduct test drives and make adjustments.
  • Understanding of state vehicle requirements and testing standards.
  • Experience in maintaining vehicle records.
  • Ability to keep shop equipment operational.
  • Skills in cost management through warranty utilization and parts evaluation.
  • Willingness to update job knowledge through education and technical reading.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects and maintains vehicles.
  • Performs preventive maintenance, including engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotations and changes, wheel balancing, replacing filters, brake replacements, spark plugs, wheel bearings, fuel systems, and sensors.
  • Tests systems and individual parts to ensure proper working order and/or to evaluate the degree of damage.
  • Repairs engine failures and mechanical and electrical system malfunctions.
  • Replaces parts and components.
  • Conducts test drives to verify vehicle serviceability and adjusts controls and systems.
  • Complies with state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
  • Records service and repair information in vehicle records.
  • Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
  • Manages costs by using warranty and evaluating service and parts options.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
  • Accomplishes maintenance and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
