This job contributes to Starbucks and the York Roasting Plant’s success by developing tactical production and inventory deployment plans, and establishing inventory levels for assigned production materials or finished goods to achieve customer service, supply chain and financial objectives. Ensures that the right product is produced at the right time and in the right quantities to meet customer demand. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.

Requirements

  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines required.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills required.
  • Ability to perform analysis, determine root causes and initiate improvements to prevent repeat occurrences required.
  • Supply chain and inventory management experience with at least 3 years of planning preferred.
  • Strong systems experience including Oracle & MES preferred.
  • Effective use of planning tools and systems to develop tactical execution solutions preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain planning system data settings for produced items (e.g. – planning time fences, lot sizing rules etc.)
  • Develop supply plans for near-term planning horizon according to inventory strategies defined by centralized planning team.
  • Review planning exceptions for production work order release to the finite scheduler.
  • Resolve material constraints for near-term planning horizon due to over consumption of forecast (for MRP / push items) and/or dramatic increase in customer actual demand (for pull/continuous production items) by working with materials planner/supplier or by modifying production schedules.
  • Resolve production resource constraints for near-term planning horizon via a). resolving within plant’s capabilities b). working with centralized network planner to leverage production across network and/or satisfying demand by prioritizing fulfillment.
  • Develop the daily/hourly resource schedules based on work orders submitted by planning system and/or kanban cards received for items on pull system.
  • Lead visual monitoring of production and management of kanban process to support pull process.
  • Monitor inventory levels of distribution nodes within plant’s service area – accountable for re-balancing inventory within the plant’s service region.
  • Resolve issues, and is accountable for, product fulfillment service levels for distribution nodes within the plant’s service region.

  • If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.

At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
