About The Position

The purpose of this position is to perform a full range of police officer and emergency response functions. This includes conducting special investigations, interviewing and interrogating suspects and witnesses, and investigating major violations and accidents. The role involves enforcing laws and ordinances by writing tickets, making arrests, serving subpoenas, and answering citizen complaints. The officer will patrol assigned districts, including streets, neighborhoods, and businesses, and respond to calls for service. Key duties also include preparing reports, search warrants, documents, and incident files. Field operations involve conducting surveillance, organizing and directing officers and law enforcement agencies, and executing search and arrest warrants. The Master Police Officer will attend preliminary trial meetings and testify in court if necessary. Additionally, the position requires performing supervisory duties in the absence of a Sergeant.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of North Carolina General Statutes
  • Knowledge of Geography of the City of Concord
  • Knowledge of Firearms
  • Knowledge of Computers
  • Valid North Carolina Driver’s License
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a North Carolina Intermediate Law Enforcement Certification within eighteen (18) months from date of hire. Failure to obtain within eighteen (18) months of hire may result in termination.
  • Applicants must meet the City criteria for an acceptable driving record.
