Requirements

  • Extensive experience in precision woodworking, lamination, and safe operation of shop machinery and hand tools.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and 3D CAD schematics.
  • Proficiency in foundry mathematics including calculating dimensions, draft angles, and metal shrink allowances.
  • Solid background in quality inspection using precision measuring instruments to verify tight tolerances.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks and CAM software like CamWorks or NX CAM.
  • Understanding of foundry processes and casting techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Skillfully select, cure, and laminate wood stocks, then use hand tools and precision machinery to sculpt highly accurate, durable patterns and core boxes that serve as the foundation for industrial castings.
  • Analyze complex engineering schematics and 3D CAD models daily to calculate precise dimensions, shrink allowances, and draft angles essential for successful casting extraction.
  • Perform rigorous dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, and templates to ensure patterns meet exact engineering specifications within strict tolerances before production.
  • Inspect, repair, and modify existing patterns and tooling to extend their lifespan and accommodate engineering changes, ensuring continuous production efficiency.
  • Build, mount, rig, and set up pattern equipment, perform pattern changes for production runs, and ensure timely preparation of patterns according to production schedules.
