About The Position

Avis Budget Group is seeking a Master Mechanic to join their team supporting Budget Truck operations. This role involves performing advanced automotive and truck repairs on a fleet of newer cargo vans and box trucks. The Master Mechanic will diagnose and fix complex issues, ensuring customer uptime and reliability. The technical leadership provided by this role is crucial for maintaining the safety and dependability of the fleet. The position requires working on engines, transmissions, exhaust systems, brakes, electrical systems, air conditioning, and onboard computer systems. The mechanic may also act as a technical expert and mentor to other technicians, and may be required to drive Budget Trucks for testing or transport. The work directly contributes to reducing vehicle downtime, supporting fleet availability, and ensuring a positive customer experience.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License (Class A, B, or C)
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional automotive or truck repair experience
  • Current ASE certifications (minimum of 3)
  • Ability to obtain 2 additional ASE certifications within the first year
  • Strong knowledge across ASE areas including, but not limited to: Engine Repair, Drivetrain/Axles, Suspension/Steering, Brakes, Electrical, Heating/Air Conditioning, Engine Performance, and Light Vehicle/Diesel
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions and near a mechanical shop with moderate noise levels
  • Must have a complete set of tools for automotive and truck repair and maintenance
  • Basic computer skills, including typing and data entry
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, continuously stand, bend, reach, walk, sit and kneel frequently
  • Must be able to enter, exit and drive Budget Truck vehicles in all weather conditions
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be able to obtain DOT medical clearance
  • Regular, on-site presence is required and cannot be performed remotely

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) experience is preferred and considered a strong advantage

Responsibilities

  • Perform standard and complex mechanical repairs, including warranty work, on a fleet of newer cargo vans and box trucks with minimal technical supervision.
  • Diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, exhaust systems, brakes, electrical systems, air conditioning, and onboard computer systems.
  • Act as a technical expert and mentor to other technicians, supporting diagnostics, repair strategies, and best practices.
  • Drive Budget Trucks on public roads for testing, repair verification, or transport needs.
  • Keep vehicles operating safely and efficiently to reduce downtime and support fleet availability.
