About The Position

Harsco Environmental is seeking a traveling Master Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join their growing team. This role involves traveling to various sites to support local maintenance teams. The Master Mechanic will be responsible for repairing, overhauling, or modifying complex vehicles and equipment that present unusual or difficult problems, often requiring independent judgment and the development of new repair methods. The work involves intricate mechanical and non-mechanical systems, including engines, transmissions, and other major components. The role may also involve using specialized diagnostic equipment for electric and electronic systems.

Requirements

  • Ability to exercise judgment and independence in determining methods and techniques for complex maintenance and repair problems.
  • Ability to plan and improvise repair procedures.
  • Ability to find ways to mechanically and physically adapt or alter items to fit and mesh into systems for which the items were not specifically designed.
  • Ability to diagnose and correct defects when existing methods and procedures do not give desired results.
  • Experience with repair, overhaul, or modification of engines, transmissions, or other major systems.
  • Experience developing or improvising methods, altering parts, and making repairs in the absence of technical guidelines.
  • Experience modifying parts to fit and mesh into systems for which the parts were not designed.
  • Experience improvising modifications to equipment to correct recurring malfunctions or designing modifications to meet special test requirements or other special needs.
  • Proficiency in using specialized diagnostic equipment to diagnose problems in complex state-of-the-art electric and electronic systems.
  • Ability to identify and replace defective components such as chips, sensors, and printed circuit boards.
