The Master Gardener provides basic care for the greenhouse and basic landscaping around the Salina West Campus. This role ensures the basic care for the greenhouse and maintains a safe environment in the facility. The Master Gardener coaches and mentors clients while they are working with plants, providing structure, discipline, and security. This position also involves irrigating, mowing, raking, and trimming lawns and/or athletic fields, as well as planting, transplanting, fertilizing, applying chemicals, watering, pruning, and weeding flower beds and plant areas. The Master Gardener ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies, promoting continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. They serve as an adult role model and a source of feedback to the clients, intervening in crisis situations using the approved Mandt system. Additionally, this role requires reporting to work at scheduled times, documenting significant behaviors and client contact, ensuring horse barns, stables, and training areas are clean and free of hazardous materials, and performing assigned cleaning or maintenance duties. The Master Gardener implements Saint Francis Ministries policies and follows directives, adhering to all pertinent Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), rules, personnel policies, and procedures, as well as accreditation and licensure standards, and federal, state, and local rules, statutes, regulations, and contractual terms. They report unusual incidents through appropriate channels and ensure clients’ rights are protected, while being knowledgeable of and following all safety procedures.
