Master Fingerprint Technician
About The Position
The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire a Master Fingerprint Technician in our Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division at our Administrative Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The job duties for this position include but are not limited to: Examining, comparing, identifying, classifying, searching and filing both printed and electronic fingerprints and palm prints in the Henry system, and Integra-ID Integrated Biometric Workstation (IBW) utilizing Multimodal Biometric Identification System (MBIS) and Archival systems. Providing technical assistance to local agency personnel on automated fingerprint submissions and fingerprint record requests.
Requirements
- Knowledge of fingerprint classification and search methodologies using the Modified Henry System and the MBIS.
- Knowledge of criminal court proceedings.
- Skill in use of Microsoft Office Applications to complete work activities.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to testify in court.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail in technical and concise work.
- Three years’ experience as a Fingerprint Technician Senior.
- Experience in examining, comparing, and classifying fingerprints.
- Current VCIN limit access certification.
- Graduation from high school or equivalent.

- Three years’ experience as a Fingerprint Technician Senior preferred.
