About The Position

The purpose of this position is to perform skilled and semi-skilled work in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment; to provide instruction and leadership of subordinate electricians in the absence of the Electrician Supervisor, and to perform related work as required. The class works within a general outline of work to be performed and develops work methods and sequences under general supervision of the Electrician Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Requires at least two years of experience in the electrical field.
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
  • Must possess and maintain or be able to obtain within one year of the hire date, a Master Electrician certification.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, replaces, maintains and repairs electrical equipment and systems in designated County buildings and facilities, including but not limited to bulbs and ballasts, circuits, receptacles, pole lights, airport runway/taxiway/apron lights, high voltage equipment, transformers, control panels, switches, photocells, remote controls, relays, contactors, etc.
  • Installs pipes for network lines and other communication lines; runs electrical pipes and conduit; installs intercom systems.
  • Adds or moves various electrical fixtures.
  • Coordinates and completes electrical hookups for Township Auditorium facility and shows.
  • Performs preventive maintenance of all equipment and systems.
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment and system problems and failures; schedules and performs repair work or parts replacement as necessary.
  • Assists supervisor in planning and coordinating major installation and maintenance projects as requested.
  • Provides training, leadership, advice and assistance to co-workers as needed; ensures that all work orders are completed correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Assists with mechanical maintenance and repair work as needed.
  • Maintains assigned tools and equipment.
  • Maintains accurate records on maintenance/repair work completed by utilizing the department’s computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Performs all work in accordance with all applicable policies, procedures, regulations and standards of safety and quality; ensures the timely completion of all assignments.
  • Attends training, workshops, meetings, etc., as necessary to enhance job knowledge and skills.
