About The Position

The Master Electrician is responsible for the maintenance and optimization of electrical systems and machinery within the plant. This role demands a seasoned professional with deep expertise in industrial electrical systems, particularly within a plastics manufacturing environment. The position involves limited travel, focusing primarily on-site tasks to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of electrical infrastructure.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Journeyman Electrician license with a Master Electrician certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting, preferably in plastics manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with PLCs and automated systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, components, and equipment, including motors, transformers, and control systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Lead the installation of new electrical systems and machinery, adhering to all relevant codes and standards.
  • Plan and execute electrical upgrades to enhance facility efficiency and productivity.
  • Ensure all electrical work adheres to local, state, and national electrical codes and safety standards.
  • Implement and uphold safety protocols to safeguard personnel and equipment.
  • Manage electrical projects from start to finish, including budgeting, scheduling, and coordination with other departments.
  • Supervise and mentor junior electricians and apprentices.
  • Maintain precise records of all electrical work performed, including repairs, maintenance, and installations.
  • Prepare reports on electrical system performance and suggest improvements.
  • Work closely with engineering and production teams to support manufacturing processes and resolve electrical issues.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to plant staff – locally and across the network - as needed.
