About The Position

BYU Athletics is seeking a part-time Massage Therapist to provide massage therapy to student-athletes referred by a staff athletic trainer and/or physician. This role involves manipulating muscles and soft tissues to promote relaxation, improve health, foster healing, and enhance performance in student-athletes. Services are to be provided during clinic hours within the BYU Sports Medicine facilities, with any exceptions requiring approval from the staff athletic trainer. The ideal candidate will be an integral part of BYU's athletic tradition, understand BYU's distinctive mission rooted in the gospel of Jesus Christ, care deeply about student-athlete success, and strive for excellence in a dynamic environment.

Requirements

• Current and valid state license for massage therapy
• 2 years’ experience as a professional massage therapist
• Willingness to uphold and live by the university's Honor Code
• Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be required to hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend

• More than 2 years’ experience in sports massage therapy

Responsibilities

• Provide massage therapy to student-athletes referred by a staff athletic trainer and/or physician
• Provide 30-minute massage targeting the needs of the student-athlete
• Provide service for up to 10-15 student-athletes per day
• Suggest massage schedules for recurring sessions
• Maintain treatment records
• Collaborate with Athletic Trainers to administer appropriate treatment to student-athletes
• Provide communication and feedback with the trainers about student-athletes
• Supervise five Athletic Training students and teach massage techniques
