Massage Therapist
About The Position
The Massage therapist has the responsibility of providing skilled hands-on massage for scheduled members and guests of the LIFT Wellness Center. The massage therapist's role is to use massage therapy to relax overworked and tired muscles, treat pain that results from any number of ailments, aid in the rehabilitation of athletic injuries and to support overall good health. This may include a variety of techniques including Swedish massage, reflexology, deep-tissue massage, acupressure, and sports massage modalities. The employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the hospital.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduation from an accredited school of massage therapy
- Licensed to practice massage in the state of Tennessee
- CPR/ AED certification
- Professional liability coverage is recommended
Nice To Haves
- 1 year of experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Greeting the client and bringing them to the designated massage area.
- Consulting with the client and obtaining a medical history to determine massage indications, precautions, contraindications, and modality needed.
- Gauging the condition of the client's soft tissues, joint function, and quality, range of motion and muscle strength.
- Proposing a specific treatment plan and establishing that plan with the consent of the client.
- Providing the massage modality and instructing the client to communicate any discomfort.
- Respecting the client's wishes regarding modification of the treatment plan within professional parameters.
- Communicating with or referring to appropriate medical professionals as needed.
- Maintaining written or electronic records of client's medical history and massage treatments using the SOAP format.
- Performing related responsibilities as required or directed.
