The Massage Therapist performs various types of massages to ensure Spa guests have an extraordinary experience. The therapist handles all guest interactions with the highest level of hospitality and professionalism, accommodating special requests whenever possible.

Requirements

  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, co-workers, and management to their understanding.
  • Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum of supervision.
  • Punctuality and regular and reliable attendance.
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with co-workers and the public.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule (AM, PM, Weekends & Holidays).
  • Demonstrate previous spa concierge and/or other spa work experience and strong work ethic and reliability.
  • Demonstrate strong customer service and/or sales experience and/or ability to promote and sell services and products.
  • Demonstrate energy and enthusiasm, motivation and motivational ability.
  • Demonstrate professional manner, oral and written communication, discretion, and appearance.
  • Demonstrate the ability to successfully collaborate, cooperate, and contribute to the organization and to colleagues.
  • Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas, such as reaching, extending arms overhead, bending and stooping.
  • The act of conducting a massage requires physical strength – a therapist must be able to move and manipulate a human body in a safe manner.
  • Carry up to 10 pounds.
  • 15% of the shift will require walking around the spa.
  • 75% of the stand while performing massages.
  • Hearing, vision, speech, and literacy.
  • One-on-one communication with guest, managers and fellow employees.
  • Must be able to observe conditions in the Spa.
  • Must be able to see how the guest is responding to treatment.
  • Must be able to read material.
  • Requires using massage oils, lotions and creams during massage.
  • Operating massage table 100% of time.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in writing to guests, vendors and fellow employees.

Nice To Haves

  • High School graduate or equivalent vocational training.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • One to two years in a similar role in a luxury hospitality environment.
  • Deep knowledge of local goods and services in critical, along with established vendor contacts.

Responsibilities

  • Always treat guests with courtesy and respect in a variety of situations.
  • Maintain highest levels of professional performance, conduct, client service, safety, and hygiene in work areas and throughout the spa.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of and adherence to all procedures, protocols, and standards of Hotel and Spa.
  • Develop and maintain thorough knowledge and skills in all spa services, tools, equipment, and products offered.
  • Effectively inquire, assess, inform, explain, educate and provide treatment addressing guest/client specific needs and concerns, and, when applicable, the contraindications restricting or preventing treatment.
  • Effectively advocate to spa guest/client additional services and products of interest or benefit to them.
  • Participate in and successfully complete all training, education, and certifications required by spa.
  • Collaborate, cooperate, and contribute to the success of all spa personnel and operations and effectively perform all tasks requested or assigned by management.
  • Creates and fosters a positive and professional environment for Spa guests by performing a wide range of massage and therapy techniques.
  • Performs Spa services according to established standards.
  • Maintains a deep knowledge of Spa-specific techniques, services, products and promotions.
  • Consults with Spa guests to determine needs and expectations.
  • Assures the appropriate level of communication transpires between the therapist and the Spa guest during the course of treatment.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work space in compliance with local health codes and regulations.
  • Maintains appropriate and up-to-date licenses and certifications.
  • Complies with all Work Rules, Safety Standards and Standards of Conduct as set forth in the Employee Handbook.
  • Works harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors.
  • May be assigned other duties at the discretion of management.
