The Massage Therapist - Oncology is responsible for performing assessments of client status and formulating massage treatment plans in accordance with client goals and massage practice standards. This role recognizes client's inability to attain goals and consults with appropriate personnel, identifies contraindications to massage, and takes recommended precautions. The therapist completes all required documentation within the same business day of the client's visit. They perform massage therapy utilizing appropriate methods according to licensure guidelines and professional practice, incorporating various relaxation massage techniques to meet patient needs. The role involves tailoring education to age-specific and individualized client needs, taking an active role in program development, and contributing ideas for promotional materials and community education. Responsibilities also include preparing and maintaining the treatment area, ensuring sanitation, hygiene, safety, and Universal Precautions, and handling cleanup after treatment. The therapist acknowledges the confidential nature of the professional relationship and respects client privacy. Upon delegation, they may assist with general cleaning, ordering and dispensing of clean linen, and miscellaneous clerical duties in an outside clinic. The position requires the ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, understanding principles of growth and development over the life span.
