About The Position

SRNL’s Weapons Production Technology Directorate is seeking experienced Chemists/Physicists for the High-Resolution Low-Mass Gas Mass Spectrometry (HR-LM-GMS), calorimetry and other wet chemistry methods and instrumentation in support of its Savannah River Tritium Enterprise (SRTE) customer. Nuclear laboratory experience with Gas Isotope (GIRMS) Ratio Mass Spectrometry is strongly preferred.

Requirements

  • BS, MS or PhD degree in Chemistry, Physics or Geosciences with preference in Analytical Chemistry
  • Minimum of two to four years of experience in an analytical laboratory environment with a PhD degree
  • Minimum of three to five years of experience with a M.S. degree
  • Minimum of four to six years of experience with a B.S. degree
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Security Clearance
  • US Citizenship is legally required for ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (e.g., lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, respiratory protection)
  • Ability to work in a radiological environment including containment hoods and gloveboxes

Nice To Haves

  • Nuclear laboratory experience with Gas Isotope (GIRMS) Ratio Mass Spectrometry
  • Direct experience with mass spectrometry instrumentation, troubleshooting, maintenance, method development, analysis, data review, and reporting
  • Previous work experience with handling of chemical, radiological and hazardous materials

  • Provide oversight and training of personnel who perform sample analysis involved with the preparation of radioactive samples and instrument operations and maintenance in radiological laboratory hoods and areas
  • Support the Savannah River Site customers predominately within NNSA Operations, and internal SRNL researchers
