About The Position

Skillforce is seeking Journeyman Masons for ongoing projects in the Henrico, VA area. The ideal candidate has experience with constructing, repairing, and maintaining structures made of brick, block, stone, and other masonry materials. You will collaborate closely with project managers, contractors, and other tradespeople to interpret blueprints and specifications accurately. This role demands precision, physical stamina, and a strong understanding of masonry techniques and materials to meet project deadlines and quality standards.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in masonry construction, including bricklaying, block laying, and stone setting.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and practices relevant to masonry work.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy materials and working at heights.
  • Must be certified in the following: OSHA 10, Silica Awareness, Respirator/FIT Test

Nice To Haves

  • CPR Certification
  • Experience working within the administrative and support services or waste management and remediation sectors.
  • Familiarity with modern masonry tools and equipment, including power tools and laser levels.
  • Basic knowledge of environmental and remediation construction practices.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in team environments.

Responsibilities

  • Concrete repair, chipping, and reconstruction of various surfaces.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements.
  • Prepare and lay out masonry work, including bricks, blocks, stones, and other materials, ensuring proper alignment and structural integrity.
  • Mix mortar and other bonding agents to appropriate consistency and apply them to masonry units.
  • Cut, shape, and finish masonry materials using hand and power tools to fit project specifications.
  • Inspect completed work for quality and compliance with safety and building codes.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to plan and execute daily tasks efficiently.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to minimize risks on the job site.
