American Conservation Experience (ACE), in partnership with Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge, is seeking two Masked Bobwhite Recovery Members to contribute to a captive breeding project. This role offers mentorship from USFWS Staff and provides exposure to land management agencies and networking opportunities. The position involves assisting with the care of masked bobwhite, a federally endangered species, at the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge, which spans approximately 118,000 acres and serves as a recovery site. With a captive population exceeding 300 birds and no known wild populations, the care of these birds is vital to ongoing recovery efforts. The members will support and assist under the guidance of FWS staff in various tasks, including changing food and water, cleaning pens, observing birds for signs of injury, and learning to provide medical care. They will also be involved in vegetation management for outdoor pens, maintaining records, and collecting eggs for incubation. Attention to detail, the ability to follow instructions, and a willingness to ask questions are essential for maintaining a healthy bird population.
