About The Position

The Laketown Squadron are seeking a positive and outgoing part-time, seasonal member for the 2026-2027 G League basketball season who will use their personality and skills to enhance the Squadron game day experience as the Mascot. This position is based in Kenner, LA at the Pontchartrain Center. Under general direction and supervision, this position is responsible for handling, preparing and executing all elements of the Laketown Squadron game experience. As part of the Hype Team, you will become an integral member of the team which supports the Game Experience department within the organization. You will play an active role in all in-game entertainment, assisting fans in and out of areas, and understanding all other duties and tasks assigned for the game. This position is part-time, but will require late nights, weekends and open availability for a majority of the Laketown Squadron home games and events. All game night staff members must be available 2.5 hours before the start of each home game and through one hour after the game concludes.

Requirements

  • Ability to work all Squadron home games.
  • Strong ethical standards and strong sense of confidentiality.
  • Must be an outgoing, positive individual who can easily connect with fans of all ages and abilities.
  • Must be able to read social cues to understand the level of engagement each fan may want.
  • Must be in good physical condition and be able to wear heavy costumes and stand or walk for extended periods of time, as well as work in hot or inclement weather.
  • Must be able and willing to work irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and the ability to travel for appearances throughout the New Orleans area.
  • Ability to stand, walk, run, bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist, lift and perform physical activities for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and/or move 50 lbs. at a time.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous mascot experience preferred but not required.
  • Comfortable performing in front of small and large crowds.

Responsibilities

  • Preserve the identity of the mascot without deviating from established character (i.e. body language/mannerisms, attitude, fan interaction and team representation).
  • Work closely with Game Experience Coordinator to enhance overall game day experience.
  • Appear at Squadron home games, which includes greeting fans, photo stations and seat visits.
  • Make community appearances as requested by the Squadron or their partners.
  • Adhere to all NBA G-League mascot performance guidelines and protocols.
  • Contribute to the conceptualization of new skits, social media posts and videoboard ideas.
  • Serve as a positive community ambassador for the Squadron brand.
  • Maintain an energetic and engaging personality with good interpersonal communication skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Follow and be on time with the game script given by the Game Experience Coordinator.
