Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • NCA, UCA, High School and/or Collegiate Mascot or Spirit Squad member experience
  • Knowledgeable of mascot safety techniques and guidelines
  • Possess a positive attitude and the ability to work as a part of a collaborative team
  • Excellent communication skills, writing skills, organizational skills and the ability to motivate team members
  • Ability to provide leadership and serve as a role model for the team
  • Ability to engage effectively with others of diverse cultures or backgrounds
  • Ability to work flexible hours in the evenings, weekends and/or holidays
  • Travel to select away games, as assigned
  • Persons must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Two (2) years coaching experience (middle/high school, club, all-star, collegiate and/or professional level)

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the coaching, training, recruiting and handling aspects for the Razorback Mascot program.
  • Organization of weekly practice, team meetings and team building exercises.
  • Attend all home football games, assigned basketball and baseball games, as well as pep rallies, and other select events where the mascots are performing.
  • Responsible for the care and maintenance of the mascot costumes and associated equipment that is provided by the spirit program.
  • Schedule and maintain appearance requests on a weekly basis.
  • Oversee the planning and coordination of tryouts.
  • Effectively communicate with all team members throughout the season on matters such as performance, academics, personal growth, and various needs that may arise.
  • Works in collaboration with the Director of Spirit Programs and Associate Athletics Director of Fan Engagement and Community Outreach as the mascot team plays a significant role both on campus and throughout the community and state of Arkansas.
  • Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
