About The Position

As a Mars Snacking Project Engineering Intern, you will gain exposure to project management in a factory setting. This includes leading or being a team member for continuous improvement and/or growth projects within Chocolate, Gum/Mints, Fruity Confections, or Salty factories. Responsibilities involve managing scope, schedule, and budget for projects such as designing food processing improvements, upgrading air handling systems, investigating and resolving operational issues like sugar buildup, reducing waste in packaging and processing, and studying data for new installations. You will also work with contractor groups for demolition, installation, and commissioning activities. The internship aims to develop key competencies in Drives for Results, Action Oriented, and Builds Networks, preparing interns for potential future careers in Engineering at Mars.

Requirements

  • Desired majors include: Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or Food Process Related Engineering majors.
  • Eligible candidates will intern the summer prior to their final graduation date.
  • Open to students legally authorized to work in the U.S., without the need for current or future work status authorization or visa sponsorship for employment.
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of drug & background screening.
  • Eligible candidates will be responsible for personal transportation to and from work site during duration of the internship program.

Responsibilities

  • Project lead or team member for a continuous improvement and/or growth project in a Chocolate, Gum/Mints, Fruity Confections, or Salty factory (manage scope / schedule / budget).
  • Lead a cross functional team for the design of a Food Processing improvement project.
  • Act as the project lead for the upgrade of an air handling system for M&M’s.
  • Investigate sugar buildup in a key operations unit, identify the source, and create a plan to resolve.
  • Develop ways to reduce waste in packaging and processing systems for Pringles.
  • Study and compile data to inform best design for new cooling tunnel installation.
  • Work with contractor groups to organize, plan, and execute demolition, installation and/or commissioning relevant to project scope.
  • Develop key competencies in Drives for Results, Action Oriented, and Builds Networks in preparation for a possible future career in Engineering at Mars.
