About The Position

Mizuho is seeking a Markets Data Steward to serve as the strategic lead and subject matter expert for the Markets Data Domain. This domain covers Front Office and Operations functions across Fixed Income, Equities, Foreign Exchange, Futures, and Listed Derivatives businesses. The Data Steward will be responsible for the Bank’s core Markets platforms and data assets, ensuring data accuracy, accessibility, and alignment with enterprise standards. A key aspect of the role involves understanding how Markets data is created and used to drive the vision and strategy for key platforms, ensuring alignment with business objectives. The position also plays a central role in identifying, prioritizing, and resolving data issues within the Markets Data Domain to reduce data quality risk, strengthen controls, and address root causes. This involves working with business contacts to understand data requirements and partnering with Technology to translate these into prioritized requirements. The role will manage Data Stewards and Data Quality Analysts supporting the Markets Data Domain.

Requirements

  • 7+ years experience in Management role (Dir/ExecDir)
  • 3+ years experience with Data Quality and Data Management
  • Deep understanding of Markets products and end-to-end trade lifecycle processes across Equities, Fixed Income, Futures and Listed Derivatives businesses.
  • Strong understanding of Markets data, including instrument, client, counterparty, pricing, market data, order, trade, position, inventory, risk, and settlement data.
  • Fluency in data governance, data quality, and metadata management principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business needs into data solutions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and manage competing priorities.
  • Experience with regulatory requirements impacting Markets businesses, including trade reporting, market risk, valuation controls, and regulatory reporting.
  • Strong ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive change programs.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience supporting both Front Office and Operations functions.
  • Experience with data design, data audit, data governance and Markets technology platforms a plus.
  • Experience supporting Sales & Trading, Market Operations, Middle Office, Product Control, Market Risk, Securities Operations, Futures Operations, or related Capital Markets functions preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Translate enterprise and Markets business strategies into actionable data management plans for the Markets Data Domain.
  • Lead new data initiatives by defining business cases, gathering requirements, and prioritizing projects across the domain.
  • Establish and maintain processes aligned with Enterprise Data Policy and Standards for Markets data.
  • Oversee access and provisioning of Markets data, including defining access controls, supporting data users, and ensuring compliance with Data Service Agreements and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure that all Markets data is governed in accordance with enterprise policies and controls.
  • Act as a change agent within the Domain, influencing adoption of a data-driven culture and data ownership model across Markets business functions.
  • Manage the definition of golden sources and systems of record for data in scope, including client, counterparty, instrument, product, order, trade, execution, position, inventory, settlement, pricing, market data, and risk-related data.
  • Establish ownership and governance across Front Office and Operations systems supporting Equities, Fixed Income, Futures and Listed Derivatives businesses.
  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to define target-state data architecture supporting trading, operations, risk management, finance, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Support stakeholders in defining, validating, and maintaining business definitions for data elements.
  • Accountable for data lineage and technical metadata for data elements within the domain.
  • Identify need for changes in metadata within domain, including impacts to trading, booking, valuation, market risk, operations processing, and regulatory reporting data elements.
  • Support stakeholders in developing and managing data quality controls for data within domain to satisfy consumer requirements.
  • Oversee remediation of Data Quality issues through prioritizing issues to remediate; review and challenge remediation plans, particularly those impacting trade execution, booking accuracy, position management, settlement processing, valuation, market risk calculations, client reporting, and regulatory reporting.
  • Establish controls and monitoring for critical trade lifecycle data including order, trade, position, instrument, counterparty, pricing, market data, and settlement data.
  • Partner with Front Office, Middle Office, Operations, Technology, and Risk teams to identify root causes and drive sustainable remediation of data quality issues.
  • Lead and coordinate a team of data professionals supporting Markets businesses, including direct management responsibilities (e.g., Data Quality Analyst) and oversight of sub-domain stewards.
  • Establish, develop, and oversee a network of Sub-Domain Data Stewards across Front Office and Operations organizations, ensuring appropriate domain coverage, clear accountability, and effective execution of Data Stewardship responsibilities.
  • Partner with the Data Management Office and Markets business leaders to formalize the Sub-Domain Data Steward model, strengthening ownership and accountability for critical Markets data assets.
  • Drive governance and stewardship activities across product areas including Equities, Fixed Income, Foreign Exchange, Futures and Listed Derivatives, ensuring consistent adoption of enterprise data standards and controls.
