About The Position

We’re looking for a Marketing Strategist who can turn complex business and marketing problems into clear strategies that help teams execute. You’ll help our clients understand where growth is constrained, who they need to reach, what they need to believe or do differently, and which marketing, experience, and channel decisions will have the greatest impact. You’ll work across different growth models, from consumer brands sold through retail to subscription businesses to B2B companies selling through a buying committee. You’ll learn to recognize the economics and customer journey of each model before recommending what to do. You’ll connect business strategy to marketing execution across positioning, messaging, audience, content, demand generation, digital experience, conversion, and measurement. You’ll work closely with strategists, designers, marketing engineers, and client teams to turn recommendations into action—and you’ll use data and research to continuously improve the plan. This is a hands-on strategy role. We’re not looking for someone who wants to create decks and hand them off. You’ll participate in the research, analysis, workshops, planning, briefs, recommendations, and measurement that make the strategy real. You will report to the Head of Delivery for now who runs the delivery practice, while working closely with practitioners across strategy, product design, and marketing and AI visibility. This role is an opportunity to help shape how Tallwave delivers modern, AI-enabled marketing strategy across our clients.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in marketing strategy, growth marketing, digital strategy, integrated marketing, agency strategy, or a related discipline.
  • Experience developing marketing strategies that move beyond a single channel and connect audience, positioning, messaging, channels, content, experience, and measurement.
  • Demonstrated work across more than one growth model (consumer and B2B, or direct and retail), with a clear view of what works and what does not
  • Demonstrated ability to turn ambiguous business problems into structured hypotheses, research questions, recommendations, and actionable plans.
  • Experience developing positioning, messaging, campaign strategy, customer journeys, or integrated marketing plans.
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort working with data from tools such as GA4, CRM platforms, marketing automation platforms, research tools, or other business intelligence sources.
  • Working knowledge of paid media, SEO, content, CRM/lifecycle marketing, conversion optimization, and other major marketing channels—you do not need to be a channel specialist, but you need to understand how the pieces work together.
  • Strong understanding of how modern buyers discover, evaluate, and choose brands across search, social, AI assistants, marketplaces, websites, and other digital experiences.
  • Experience collaborating with designers, developers, marketers, account/project managers, and client stakeholders to move strategy into execution.
  • Strong writing and presentation skills, with the ability to turn complex information into a clear story and recommendation.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with AI search visibility and how positioning affects what assistants recommend
  • Daily working use of Claude or similar tools for research synthesis and analysis

Responsibilities

  • Develop positioning, messaging hierarchy, and audience strategy and frameworks, grounded in competitive, customer and market research
  • Conduct and synthesize buyer and customer research, including interviews, win/loss, review, sales-call mining, surveys, and behavioral data
  • Translate research and data into clear audience segments, customer needs, jobs-to-be-done, and actionable marketing opportunities.
  • Map the customer journey using available behavioral, CRM, web, commerce and marketing data and identify moments that influence awareness, consideration, conversion and retention.
  • Identify opportunities to improve conversion and customer experience, partnering with product designers and marketing engineers to turn strategic recommendations into better digital experiences.
  • Translate positioning and strategy into an integrated message and content architecture across owned, earned, retailer, paid, and sales-enablement surfaces, with briefs the content team and marketing engineer can execute
  • Develop integrated marketing plans that connect brand, demand generation, content, paid media, SEO/AI visibility, conversion, and customer experience around a common business objective.
  • Build business cases and prioritize marketing investments using practical financial and performance metrics appropriate to the client’s business model
  • Develop the channel recommendations across consumer platforms such as Meta, Google, YouTube, CTV, retail media, and B2B platforms such as LinkedIn, ABM, review sites and other relevant channels
  • Understand the role of AI-powered discovery in the modern customer journey and incorporate AI search visibility, generative AI, and AI-assisted research into strategy where appropriate.
  • Develop the measurement plans that connect marketing activity to meaningful business outcomes and use available data to evaluate performance, identify learning and recommend optimization.
  • Build clear strategic recommendations and present them confidently to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to engagement delivery from strategy through execution, partnering with the PM on workplans, resourcing, timelines, budgets, and quality.
  • Facilitate working sessions that help clients align across marketing, sales, product, creative, digital, and other agency partners.
