About The Position

This position provides support to the Marketing Director and Marketing Department in the preparation and execution of promotions, events, direct mail, sponsorships, advertising, and publicity. The role involves tracking project status, ensuring deadlines are met, and materials are delivered. The Marketing Specialist will prepare written processes and documents, ensure accurate information across all communication platforms, and assist with the execution of various events. They will also coordinate the development and distribution of in-house collateral, participate in revenue-driving promotion/event planning, and manage purchase requisitions and vendor billing. Additionally, the role involves processing marketing billing, assessing donation requests, and recommending new advertising opportunities.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in marketing, communications, business administration or 2 years directly related experience.
  • Ability to write at standard business levels with minimal corrections to punctuation and grammar required and ability to proofread and correct errors.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Positivity and works well with others
  • Six (6) months Marketing-related experience in any industry or comparable internship experience for at least one semester

Responsibilities

  • Track status of all ongoing projects, and work with the Director of Marketing to ensure that all deadlines are met, and materials are delivered.
  • Prepare written processes, documents, releases and work fluidly between marketing teams and departments we serve.
  • Ensure correct and accurate information on all communication platforms across multiple channels, including website, mobile app, onsite collateral, advertising materials, and signage.
  • Assist with the execution of events including divisional meetings, ground breakings, ribbon cuttings and grand openings for buildings built by the Division of Commerce or managed by the Division of Commerce or sponsorship partners.
  • Work with internal departments to develop and produce in-house collateral. Coordinate the distribution of collateral pieces.
  • Assist with distribution and posting of all promotional and advertising collateral.
  • Participate in revenue-driving promotion/event planning.
  • Ensure all purchase requisitions and purchase order numbers are issued for each project and vendors receive purchase order numbers for billing reference. Track overall accounting to ensure record keeping, procedures and budget guidelines are followed.
  • Process Marketing billing, including assigning proper account codes to all invoices before submitting to Accounts Payable, and maintaining all billing spreadsheets (can maintain complex spreadsheets).
  • Assess donation requests and solicitations for new advertising opportunities then pass along recommendations to the Director of Marketing for final decision.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.
