About The Position

Live Oak Bank is seeking an onsite intern to join their 10-week Summer 2027 Internship Program, running from May 17 to July 23, 2027, at their headquarters in Wilmington, NC. The Marketing team at Live Oak Bank is responsible for telling the stories of the small business owners they serve. This internship offers a hands-on experience where the intern will be a working member of the team, contributing to projects that reach customers, prospects, and colleagues. The role provides exposure to how marketing connects with lending, deposits, product, and technology, with opportunities to build relationships and receive mentorship. Live Oak Bank is the nation's largest SBA 7(a) lender, dedicated to empowering small businesses.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's program, with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2029.
  • Coursework or hands-on experience in marketing, communications, journalism, business, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an eye for detail and correct grammar.
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Able to manage several projects at once, ask questions early, and meet deadlines.
  • Willing to work on-site in Wilmington, North Carolina for the full internship term.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous internship, campus role, student organization, or freelance work involving marketing, content, or communications.
  • Familiarity with social media management, email marketing platforms, or basic analytics tools such as Google Analytics.
  • Experience with project management tools like Monday.com.
  • Interest in financial services, small business, or entrepreneurship.
  • Comfort working with data and turning numbers into a clear story.
  • A portfolio, writing samples, or a personal project you are proud to share.

Responsibilities

  • Support marketing campaigns from planning through launch.
  • Write and edit clear, on-brand copy for email, social media, web pages, blog posts, and other sales enablement resources.
  • Help manage the content calendar and keep projects moving across creative, digital, and product partners.
  • Pull and organize campaign performance data, then summarize what worked and what you would change.
  • Research competitors, industry trends, and customer questions to inform how we position our products.
  • Assist with events and sponsorships— from prep and logistics to follow-up.
  • Review materials against brand standards and marketing compliance requirements before they go live.
  • Maintain a high standard of regulatory awareness including BSA, AML, CIP, and OFAC.
  • Present a final project to leadership at the end of the summer.
