About The Position

The Calvin University School of Business (CUSB) invites applications for a full-time faculty member in marketing to begin July 1, 2027, pending administrative approval. The university seeks candidates with a vibrant Christian faith who are dedicated to integrating their faith with their field of study. There are two possible tracks for the ideal candidate: Tenure-track: Hold a PhD or other terminal degree in marketing or a related discipline (ABD candidates will also be considered). Candidates are expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and/or master’s level and have an active stream of relevant research and publications. Professor of practice: Field-specific experts with a practice-oriented degree (master’s or above) and experience in a prior career (of at least five years) of distinguished professional achievement and who also meet the qualifications for teaching. Candidates are expected to teach, keep an active professional practice, and actively serve the university.

Requirements

  • Meet the qualifications for teaching (for professor of practice).
  • Affirm the Christian faith as expressed by the Reformed confessions.
  • Have academic and personal qualifications for teaching and scholarship.
  • Demonstrated awareness and commitment to effectively establishing relationships and positive communication across multiple dimensions of diversity including, but not limited to, race, gender, physical limitations, class, or religious perspectives.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 24 semester hours per academic year.
  • Teach effectively.
  • Pursue an active scholarly agenda (if tenure-track).
  • Integrate a Christian perspective into their teaching and scholarship.

  • Keep an active professional practice (if professor of practice).
  • Engage actively with professional associations such as the American Marketing Association (AMA), Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU), and Christian Business Faculty Association (CBFA).
  • Affirm their commitment to the educational mission of Calvin University as a Christian liberal arts university in the Reformed tradition, affiliated with the Christian Reformed Church.
  • Integrate questions of meaning, significance, and ethics into all course content.
  • Engage students beyond the classroom.
