About The Position

Interplanetary Help Desk is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that produces benefit concerts for other nonprofits. We help great causes raise money while supporting music venues and musicians. We are looking for a creative and experienced BtoC marketer to build and execute marketing plans for numerous concerts, grow our social media and email lists, and work with partners on promotions. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role within a small team, requiring a DIY and guerilla marketing approach. The organization values a mission-driven product, a respectful work environment, and a marketing process that emphasizes relationships. The ideal candidate will have a low-ego, high-impact mindset, focused on serving the mission and strengthening the team and community.

Requirements

  • Process management skills to get the right things done in the right order and manage dozens of simultaneous small campaigns.
  • Ability to work with designers and writers, finding and managing creative partners.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage content across all programs and be hands-on in the writing/editing process.
  • Sophistication around branding, messaging, content, and design, with the ability to enforce consistent on-brand messaging and design.
  • Understanding of the concert marketing ecosystem and ability to master the unique nature of promoting shows.
  • Strong writing skills for in-house content creation.
  • Power user of marketing tools, including web platforms (WordPress or SquareSpace), email/SMS/CRMs (Klaviyo, etc.), and design tools (Adobe, Canva).
  • Power user of social media, email, and SMS, experienced in running professional campaigns.
  • Proficient with the tools and techniques of a modern workplace.
  • Ability to collaborate intensely with a team of creatives.
  • A low-ego, high-impact mindset.
  • Ability to manage messy overlapping tasks and processes with a lean crew of staff and freelancers.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the live music industry is not required, but a demonstrated ability to master the unique nature of promoting shows is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Build and execute marketing plans for 2 dozen concerts being promoted simultaneously.
  • Aggressively grow our Instagram, email, and SMS lists.
  • Work with nonprofit partners, sponsors, and creators on mutually beneficial promotions.
  • Manage on-brand creative.
  • Execute local social media and email campaigns to sell out shows.
  • Focus on audience development, growing lists and follower counts.
  • Balance marketing efforts with assisting partner organizations in their promotions.
  • Manage the marketing flow, including calendar/schedule, execution, and results measurement.
  • Coordinate across web, social, email, and paid ads.
  • Manage the creative process with external and internal designers and writers.
  • Manage the parent brand, including the website, marketing materials, newsletters, and BtoB marketing content.
  • Analyze results of all marketing and concerts, align with the marketing budget, and create reports.
  • Lead the overhaul of the brand, design, and website.
