About The Position

The primary purpose of your job position is to develop, coordinate, direct, and administer our facility’s marketing and public relations programs and services. This role involves maintaining a current listing of all resident care employee phone numbers, and planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the facility’s public relations and marketing programs and activities to maintain and increase census and inform the community about the facility's programs, services, and practices. The position also requires developing and maintaining written policies and procedures for information release, assisting department directors with marketing and public relations policies, and reviewing these policies annually. Additionally, the role involves assisting with customer satisfaction surveys, interpreting policies regarding information release, ensuring accuracy of public information materials, organizing internal communications, and participating in departmental meetings. Creative support for resident programs, maintaining liaison with families and community leaders, contacting the news media, and keeping the Administrator informed of relevant media coverage are also key aspects. During emergencies, the Marketing Director will establish a public relations area to ensure accurate information release. The role also includes assisting with in-service training, creating a positive atmosphere, following ergonomics policies, preparing departmental budgets, serving on committees, maintaining resident care information confidentiality, and interpreting resident rights.

Requirements

  • Must possess, as a minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university, or equivalent.
  • Five (5) years experience in marketing/public relations in a health care setting may be recognized in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Suite products.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, direct, and administer facility’s marketing and public relations programs and services.

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the facility’s public relations and marketing programs and activities.
  • Develop and maintain written policies and procedures that govern the release of information concerning the residents, employees, and/or the facility.
  • Assist department directors in the development and use of marketing and public relations policies and procedures.
  • Review the facility’s marketing and public relations policies and procedures at least annually and make changes as necessary.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and tracking of customer satisfaction surveys.
  • Interpret the facility’s policies and procedures governing the release of information.
  • Ensure that public information describing the services provided in the facility is accurate and fully descriptive.
  • Ensure that all employees follow established policies and procedures governing the release of information.
  • Organize and implement continuing internal communications.
  • Schedule and participate in departmental meetings concerning marketing and public relations programs and activities.
  • Provide creative support for activity and social services departments in developing resident programs, publications, etc.
  • Maintain an adequate liaison with families, residents, and community and civic leaders.
  • Participate in community service and civic groups to obtain information and seek support.
  • Contact the news media when new programs, promotions, etc., are implemented within the facility.
  • Keep the Administrator informed of newspaper, radio and television accounts of noteworthy items of general interest.
  • During emergencies, establish a public relations area to assure that the release of information is accurate.
  • Assist department directors in the planning, conducting, and scheduling of in-service training classes, on-the-job training and orientation programs.
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment.
  • Follow established ergonomics policies and procedures.
  • Prepare a departmental operating budget for approval by the Administrator and allocate the resources.
  • Serve on various committees of the facility as directed by the Administrator.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information.
  • Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information.
  • Interpret resident rights to the resident, family, and staff personnel as necessary or appropriate.
