About The Position

The primary purpose of your job position is to develop, coordinate, direct, and administer our facility’s marketing and public relations programs and services. This role involves maintaining a current listing of all resident care employee phone numbers, and planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the facility’s public relations and marketing programs and activities. The goal is to maintain and increase census and to provide the community with information relative to the facility, its programs, services, and practices. The position also requires developing and maintaining written policies and procedures that govern the release of information concerning residents, employees, and/or the facility in accordance with current Privacy Rules and Regulations. Assistance will be provided to department directors in the development and use of marketing and public relations policies and procedures, fostering rapport between departments to highlight the importance of each staff member's role in these programs. A review of the facility’s marketing and public relations policies and procedures at least annually is necessary, along with making changes as needed. The role includes assisting in the development, implementation, and tracking of customer satisfaction surveys, and interpreting facility policies and procedures governing the release of information to various stakeholders. Ensuring that public information is accurate and fully descriptive, and that all employees adhere to established policies and procedures regarding information release are key responsibilities. The position also involves organizing and implementing continuing internal communications, scheduling and participating in departmental meetings, and providing creative support for activity and social services departments. Maintaining liaison with families, residents, and community leaders, participating in community service and civic groups, and contacting the news media for new programs or promotions are also part of the role. Keeping the Administrator informed of relevant media coverage and establishing a public relations area during emergencies to ensure accurate information release are critical. The Marketing Director will also assist department directors in planning and conducting in-service training, on-the-job training, and orientation programs. Creating and maintaining a positive and calm environment throughout the facility is essential. Following established ergonomics policies and procedures to prevent work-related injuries and illnesses, and preparing a departmental operating budget for approval by the Administrator are also required. Serving on various committees and maintaining the confidentiality of resident care information are also key duties. Interpreting resident rights to residents, families, and staff is also part of the role.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university, or equivalent.
  • Five (5) years experience in marketing/public relations in a health care setting may be recognized in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Suite products.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an adequate liaison with families, residents, and community and civic leaders.
  • Participate in community service and civic groups to obtain information and seek support for charitable activities.
  • Contact the news media when new programs or promotions are implemented.
  • Keep the Administrator informed of relevant media accounts.
  • During emergencies, establish a public relations area to assure accurate release of information.
  • Assist department directors in planning, conducting, and scheduling in-service training, on-the-job training, and orientation programs concerning marketing and public relations.
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment.
  • Follow established ergonomics policies and procedures governing lifting techniques, repetitive tasks, and the use of safety equipment.
  • Prepare a departmental operating budget for approval by the Administrator and allocate resources.
  • Serve on various committees of the facility as directed by the Administrator.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information, including protected health information.
  • Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of resident care information.
  • Interpret resident rights to the resident, family, and staff personnel as necessary or appropriate.
