About The Position

The primary purpose of this job position is to develop, coordinate, direct, and administer the facility’s marketing and public relations programs and services. This role is responsible for maintaining and increasing the facility's census by developing and implementing public relations and marketing programs, and providing the community with information about the facility's programs, services, and practices. The position also involves developing and maintaining policies related to resident and facility information, assisting department directors with marketing and public relations, and tracking customer satisfaction. The Marketing Director will interpret facility policies, ensure public information is accurate, organize internal communications, and maintain liaison with families, residents, and community leaders. They will also participate in community service, contact the news media for new programs, keep the Administrator informed of relevant news, and establish a public relations area during emergencies. Additionally, this role assists in planning and scheduling in-service training, creates a positive atmosphere, follows ergonomics policies, prepares a departmental operating budget, serves on committees, and maintains resident care information confidentiality. The position interprets resident rights and has supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university, or equivalent.
  • Five (5) years experience in marketing/public relations in a health care setting may be recognized in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite products.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Prolonged use of a desk top or laptop computer.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand; walk and talk, read or hear.
  • Frequent use of all office related equipment to include; copier/scanner/fax, telephone, and calculator.
  • May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the facility’s public relations and marketing programs and activities to maintain and increase census and inform the community about the facility.
  • Develop and maintain written policies and procedures for the release of information concerning residents, employees, and the facility, adhering to current Privacy Rules and Regulations.
  • Assist department directors in developing and using marketing and public relations policies and procedures, fostering inter-departmental rapport.
  • Review the facility’s marketing and public relations policies and procedures at least annually and make necessary changes.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and tracking of customer satisfaction surveys.
  • Interpret facility policies and procedures regarding the release of information to employees, residents, family members, visitors, and government agencies.
  • Ensure that public information (policy manuals, brochures, information packets, etc.) describing facility services is accurate and fully descriptive.
  • Ensure all employees follow established policies and procedures governing the release of information.
  • Organize and implement continuing internal communications through various channels like bulletin boards, newsletters, and brochures.
  • Schedule and participate in departmental meetings concerning marketing and public relations programs and activities.
  • Provide creative support for activity and social services departments in developing resident programs and publications.
  • Maintain an adequate liaison with families, residents, and community and civic leaders.
  • Participate in community service and civic groups to seek support for charitable activities.
  • Contact the news media when new programs or promotions are implemented that will benefit the facility and community.
  • Keep the Administrator informed of news media accounts that may impact the facility or its regulations.
  • Establish a public relations area during emergencies to ensure accurate information release according to established policies.
  • Assist department directors in planning, conducting, and scheduling in-service training, on-the-job training, and orientation programs related to marketing and public relations.
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment.
  • Follow established ergonomics policies and procedures governing lifting techniques, repetitive tasks, and the use of safety equipment.
  • Prepare a departmental operating budget for approval by the Administrator and allocate resources.
  • Serve on various committees of the facility as directed by the Administrator.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information, including protected health information, and report unauthorized disclosures.
  • Interpret resident rights to residents, families, and staff as necessary or appropriate.
