About The Position

The Marketing Credit Risk Manager is responsible for leading the credit risk function for Marathon's customer portfolio in Brand/Wholesale/and Asphalt rack business by overseeing a team of analysts and ensuring effective assessment, monitoring, and mitigation of customer credit exposure. This role provides strategic leadership in evaluating customer financial strength, establishing appropriate credit limits and security requirements, and proactively managing credit risk to support business growth while protecting company assets. The Manager collaborates closely with Commercial, Accounting, Treasury, and Marketing leadership to develop and execute credit risk strategies, strengthen cross-functional partnerships, and address emerging risks. This position maintains a deep understanding of industry trends, market dynamics, and customer financial performance to support sound credit decisions and risk management practices. In addition to managing credit operations, the Marketing Credit Risk Manager is responsible for developing organizational capability by coaching and mentoring credit professionals, enhancing technical and commercial acumen, and fostering a high-performing team focused on continuous improvement, compliance, and business partnership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Marketing or related field required.
  • Five (5) years of relevant experience required; Credit, Commercial, and leadership experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Credit Analysts responsible for managing credit risk and assessing the credit quality of Marathon’s customer base.
  • Complete financial review and credit assessment to determine an appropriate level of credit and/or security for customers.
  • Monitor customer credit limits and take appropriate action if limits are exceeded.
  • Set strategies to develop and enhance relationships proactively addressing risk mitigation with key business partners including Commercial, Accounting, and Finance & Treasury.
  • Develop and maintain key relationships internally with the appropriate commercial groups associated with the customers assigned.
  • Lead development of staff including professional, market/industry, commercial, and overall credit risk.
