About The Position

The Marketing & Communications Specialist is responsible for planning, creating, and executing Respite Care’s external communications across digital, print, and social media channels. This is a hands-on role for a creative, organized professional who can translate our mission into content that connects- and who understands that consistent, intentional storytelling is what builds a recognized brand over time. This role reports directly to the Director of Development and works closely with program staff to capture impact, support fundraising campaigns, and ensure the organization’s public presence reflects who we are and what we do.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older and have favorable findings on background checks, including the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Department of Health, and Texas Department of Family and Protective Services criminal record checks and a negative drug test.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, communication, public relations, marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to create content across social media platforms, email, and print.
  • Proficiency in graphic design tools.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Experience with social media analytics (Facebook Analytics, Google Analytics) and producing performance reports.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a monthly content calendar across all active channels (social media, email, and website).
  • Write and design content for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, email newsletters, and the organization's website.
  • Create print materials including flyers, event collateral, and donor-facing communications.
  • Maintain consistent brand voice, visual identity, and messaging across all materials.
  • Develop and maintain platform- specific strategies (goals, target audiences, content approach) for Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
  • Manage daily posting, community engagement, and channel monitoring.
  • Track and report on key metrics (reach, engagement, follower growth) monthly, with trend analysis and recommendations.
  • Use data to continuously refine content strategy, cadence, and platform focus; stay current on trends and algorithm changes.
  • Manage and execute email communications using Mailchimp, including newsletters, campaign appeals, and donor stewardship messages.
  • Maintain and segment email lists to ensure appropriate targeting and messaging.
  • Track email performance metrics (Open rates, click rates, unsubscribes) and adjust strategy accordingly.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Development on campaign content for appeals, events, and donor stewardship materials.
  • Support event promotion and post-event communications.
  • Assist with annual report content and donor-facing impact communications.
  • Conduct facility tours for donors, prospects, and community partners as needed.
  • Support earned media efforts, including press release drafting and maintaining media contact lists.
  • Identify opportunities to amplify the organization’s work through community partnerships, features, and social proof.
  • Manage online profiles and directory listings (Google, Charity Navigator, etc.)
  • Provide day-to-day direction and content review for the Social Media Intern(s).
  • Review and approve all intern-created content before publication.
  • Serve as a hands-on mentor, actively teaching platform strategy, analytics interpretation, and content planning.
