About The Position

HealthCorps is a national non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of youth by addressing health challenges through innovative programming in education, leadership, and service learning. They empower teens to become change agents in their families, schools, and neighborhoods, recognizing that limited health education can lead to lifelong challenges. This internship offers an opportunity to contribute to this mission by supporting regional marketing and communications efforts, connecting various stakeholders to the organization's work. The role involves sharing program impact through storytelling, digital content, event promotion, and strategic communications, providing hands-on experience in social media, content creation, public relations, community engagement, event marketing, brand management, and internal communications. It is ideal for students interested in marketing, communications, nonprofit storytelling, public health, and community outreach, offering collaboration with regional staff, mentors, and national MarComm interns.

Requirements

  • Currently working towards a bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, social media, business, public health, or a related field
  • Successful completion of introductory courses in marketing, business, or equivalent
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite applications (Excel, Outlook, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with Canva, social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social), and editing platforms such as CapCut, Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Premiere Pro), or Adobe Express

Responsibilities

  • Support content collection and storytelling projects for digital communications, social media, newsletters, donor communications, and regional outreach efforts, developing written, video, and visual content.
  • Visit local school sites weekly to capture stories and content from the Teens Make Health Happen Clubs, and attend regional events, community outreach opportunities, and partner engagements to document and showcase impact.
  • Manage regional social media channels (Instagram & TikTok) by creating and publishing content, monitoring engagement, conducting social listening, and maintaining brand consistency. Support content creation for platforms like LinkedIn and YouTube.
  • Assist with the development of communications materials for students, families, school partners, community partners, and stakeholders, including drafting emails, newsletters, announcements, presentations, and promotional messaging.
  • Create and update marketing collateral such as flyers, posters, presentations, event signage, and one-pagers to support program recruitment, event promotion, and community engagement.
  • Support the promotion and execution of regional events through digital communications, outreach campaigns, and marketing efforts, including pre-event promotion, attendee engagement, and post-event storytelling.
  • Help track engagement analytics and assist in monthly reporting to assess the performance and impact of marketing and communications efforts.
  • Assist in brainstorming, developing, and executing awareness campaigns, content series, and storytelling initiatives.
  • Collaborate with college mentors delivering TMHH programming and other HealthCorps MarComm Interns across the country. Participate in national intern huddles with the HealthCorps marketing team.
  • Serve as an ambassador for HealthCorps and its mission in the community, supporting outreach efforts at schools, events, and community engagements.
