About The Position

The Marketing & Communications Intern will support Special Events and Communications in promoting NJFH's programs, events, and mission. This is a hands-on Fall opportunity for a creative and motivated student to gain real-world experience in nonprofit marketing, social media, storytelling, and community engagement. The intern will play a key role in helping share the stories of NJFH members, programs, and impact with the community, donors, and partners.

Requirements

  • Current student or recent graduate (within one year of graduation) in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Graphic Design, or related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation
  • Interest in nonprofit work, community engagement, or human services
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple projects
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design tools preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating content for social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and newsletters
  • Help design digital and print marketing materials such as flyers, graphics, and event promotions
  • Support photography and videography at programs and events (when appropriate)
  • Draft and edit website updates, blog posts, and email communications
  • Conduct research on marketing trends, audience engagement, and peer organizations
  • Assist with event promotion and fundraising campaign materials
  • Help track social media analytics and engagement metrics
  • Maintain organized digital files of photos, graphics, and marketing assets
  • Support other communications and events projects as needed
  • Works towards the accomplishment of department/Agency goals
  • Maintains confidentiality and immediately reports to management breaches in confidentiality
  • Practices job/intern requirements on an accurate, timely and regular basis
  • Observes and maintains appropriate professional boundaries with members, co-workers and supervisors
  • Attends all scheduled meetings assigned
  • Meets relevant continuing educational/training requirements if applicable
  • Completes all required documentation/paperwork accurately and within established time frames.
