About The Position

The Marketing & Communications Coordinator for the Arts is responsible for the promotion of events, news, programs, and happenings within AU Arts, which includes the programs in the Department of Performing Art (DPA) and Art Department. Promotional efforts include social media content creation, writing online news stories, email marketing, and outreach to campus and community partners. The individual also manages the production and distribution of marketing materials related to arts events, including performance programs and posters. The individual will work closely with faculty and staff in the arts, the AU Museum, as well as individuals throughout the College and the University. They will manage student workers who assist with photography and videography. This position reports directly to the College Assistant Dean for Communications & Outreach. The Marketing and Communications Coordinator for the Arts will supervise student workers who assist with photography and videography for AU Arts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • 2 - 4 years of relevant experience in communications or marketing field required with an interest or experience in the arts.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to work on multiple tasks, and a collaborative work style.
  • Technical experience using content management systems, social media and email marketing software, Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign and Photoshop, and Microsoft Office is required.

Responsibilities

  • Identify promotional opportunities and generate content for AU Arts with program directors, faculty, and staff for social media campaigns, email newsletters, monitors on campus, performance programs, posters, and other printed and digital materials.
  • Project manages graphic designers and serves as a liaison between the designers and the faculty on the creation of promotional materials.
  • Liaise with printers to manage and oversee the distribution of printed materials.
  • Provide with writing, editing, and designing supports as needed.
  • Manage student photographers and work with directors and assistants on photo/video shoots.
  • Work with the CAS webmaster to provide information for the AU Arts, Katzen, and Greenberg websites.
  • Work with the AU Arts ticketing office to manage the ticketing platform.
  • Direct the AU Arts social media presence.
  • Assist social media assistants/student workers and faculty within the AU Arts programs to help them maintain engaging social media accounts.
  • Maintain mailing lists for AU Arts and coordinate targeted e-mails and newsletters for upcoming events and AU Arts announcements.
  • Oversee submission of all AU Arts events to AU community online calendars and listings including the AU Neighborhood Newsletter, AU Alumni Newsletter, as well as local online and print calendars.
  • Manage internal library of photo assets.
  • Under the direction of the College Assistant Dean of Communications and Outreach, work with University Marketing and Communications (UCM) to seek external press and media coverage.
  • Prepare annual AU Arts promotional budget with the College Assistant Dean of Communications and Outreach.
  • Monitor and maintain ongoing record of all marketing, publication and promotional expenses at budget level agreed upon.
  • Provide semester budget forecasts and actuals.
  • Under the direction of the College Assistant Dean/Director of Communications and Outreach, perform other marketing and communications tasks implemented by the office on behalf of the Dean and College, including supporting the news website, social media, event promotion, and production of print and online marketing materials.
