About The Position

HealthCorps is seeking a creative, organized, and proactive Marketing and Communications Intern to support regional marketing and communications efforts. This internship offers hands-on experience in social media, content creation, public relations, community engagement, event marketing, brand management, and internal communications. The intern will help elevate the HealthCorps mission by sharing the impact of programs through compelling stories, digital content, event promotion, and outreach materials. This role is ideal for students interested in building real-world experience in marketing, communications, nonprofit storytelling, public health, and community outreach. The intern will collaborate with regional staff, mentors, and other interns across the country, developing professional skills applicable to fast-paced environments.

Requirements

  • Applied understanding of basic marketing principles
  • Familiarity with major social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube)

  • Comfortable with multitasking in a deadline-driven environment

  • Curiosity about trends, social platforms, and youth-centered storytelling
  • Currently working towards a bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, social media, business, public health, or a related field
  • Successful completion of introductory courses in marketing, business, or equivalent
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite applications (Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to travel to assigned sites, which may include distances of up to 40 miles within Oklahoma City

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with Canva
  • Previous experience with social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social)
  • Previous experience with editing platforms such as CapCut, Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Premiere Pro), or Adobe Express

Responsibilities

  • Support content collection and storytelling projects for digital communications, social media, newsletters, websites, donor communications, and regional outreach efforts.
  • Develop written, video, and visual content highlighting the HealthCorps mission, student impact, community partnerships, and program successes.
  • Visit local school sites weekly to capture stories and content from the Teens Make Health Happen Clubs.
  • Attend regional events, community outreach opportunities, and partner engagements to document and showcase HealthCorps' impact.
  • Manage regional social media channels (Instagram & TikTok) by creating and publishing content, monitoring engagement, conducting social listening, and maintaining brand consistency.
  • Support content creation for platforms like LinkedIn and YouTube in collaboration with the national team.
  • Assist with the development of communications materials for students, families, school partners, community partners, and stakeholders.
  • Draft email communications, newsletters, announcements, presentations, event invitations, and promotional messaging.
  • Create and update marketing collateral such as flyers, posters, presentations, event signage, one-pagers, and promotional materials.
  • Support the promotion and execution of regional events through digital communications, outreach campaigns, and marketing efforts.
  • Assist with pre-event promotion, attendee engagement, and post-event storytelling.
  • Track engagement analytics and assist in monthly reporting to assess the performance and impact of regional marketing and communications efforts.
  • Assist in brainstorming, developing, and executing awareness campaigns, recurring content series, and storytelling initiatives.
  • Collaborate with a team of college mentors and other HealthCorps MarComm Interns across the country.
  • Participate in national intern huddles with the HealthCorps marketing team.
  • Serve as an ambassador for HealthCorps and its mission in the community.
