About The Position

University Marketing at the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire is seeking an innovative and analytically minded Marketing Analytics & Research Specialist to help build and lead the department's marketing analytics capability. This newly created position offers a unique opportunity to establish reporting frameworks, performance measurement standards, dashboards, and data-informed practices that will shape how marketing effectiveness is measured and optimized across the university. Working as part of a collaborative and strategic marketing team, this position will analyze marketing performance, audience engagement, and enrollment data to generate actionable insights that improve marketing outcomes and support institutional priorities. The position will also utilize audience and consumer research methods, as needed, to deepen understanding of prospective students and other key audiences and inform marketing strategy. The successful candidate will enjoy building new capabilities, translating complex data into meaningful recommendations, and partnering with colleagues across the university to strengthen marketing performance and support enrollment success. This position is primarily based on the UW–Eau Claire campus and is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement of up to one remote workday per week following successful onboarding, consistent with university policy and departmental needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, market research, business, communications, statistics, data analytics, social sciences, or a related field.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in marketing analytics, data analytics, market research, consumer insights, business intelligence, or a closely related field.
  • Experience collecting, integrating, analyzing, and interpreting quantitative and qualitative data from multiple sources to support business, marketing, enrollment, or organizational decision making.
  • Experience developing dashboards, reports, data visualizations, or presentations that translate complex information into actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Experience evaluating performance metrics and identifying opportunities to optimize marketing effectiveness and organizational outcomes.
  • Knowledge of research methodologies, survey design, data collection techniques, and analytical best practices.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, maintains, and communicates marketing analytics dashboards, reports, and performance measurement tools to support data-informed decision making across marketing, enrollment, and institutional marketing initiatives
  • Analyzes marketing, enrollment, audience, website, campaign, and engagement data to identify trends, opportunities, risks, and actionable recommendations
  • Build and continuously enhance the University's marketing analytics capability by establishing reporting frameworks, performance measurement standards, dashboards, processes, and best practices that support long-term organizational effectiveness.
  • Supports continuous optimization of marketing strategies, campaigns, tactics, messaging, channels, and audience targeting through performance analysis and insight development
  • Partners with marketing team members and stakeholders to evaluate marketing effectiveness, establish performance metrics, and improve outcomes through data-informed recommendations
  • Synthesizes and communicates analytics findings through reports, presentations, dashboards, and consultations that translate complex information into actionable insights
  • Develops and promotes reporting standards, performance measurement frameworks, analytics best practices, and data governance processes
  • Collaborates with marketing, enrollment, and institutional stakeholders to identify analytics, reporting, and decision-support needs and contributes to strategic planning efforts
  • Conducts primary and secondary market and consumer research to support audience understanding, and inform marketing strategy development, institutional planning, and decision making
  • Collects, analyzes, and interprets qualitative and quantitative research data and communicates findings and recommendations to stakeholders
  • Manages multiple projects, competing priorities, timelines, and stakeholder requests
  • May manage budgets, contracts, or relationships with external analytics, research, or data vendors
  • Participates in the development and communication of procedures and practices including intake, best practices, and reporting standards
  • Communicates insights and recommendations to stakeholders through written reports and/or presentations and educates stakeholders on sound research practices
  • Trains researchers, provides feedback on research design or communication, monitors workflows, and resolves routine personnel issues. May supervise staff
  • Executes primary and secondary consumer research methodologies, synthesizes and analyzes data, and reports results to support a variety of functional areas
  • May manage budgets or contracts for third parties
  • Manages stakeholder relationships to understand consumer research needs and resolves issues as they arise
