Market Structure

KalshiNew York, NY
$100,000 - $125,000

About The Position

Kalshi has defined a new category: prediction markets. Kalshi allows people to trade on the outcome of any events and turn any question about the future into a financial asset. Kalshi fought for years and legalized prediction markets in the US for the first time in history, is currently the fastest growing financial market in America, and has thousands of markets across politics, economics, financials, weather, tech, AI, culture and more. We believe prediction markets have the potential to be the largest financial market because they turn anything into a financial position. Our vision: well… build the largest financial market on the planet. Our mission: bring more truth to the world through the power of markets. Our culture is simple: we hire really talented people, work really hard, and enjoy the climb. We are looking for ambitious and exceptional people to join our (relatively small) team to help us build the next generation of financial markets. We're looking for a sharp, contrarian thinker and relentless writer to own the lifecycle of a market — from "there should be a contract on X" to a fully specified product that the public sees and could get billions of dollars in trading. This role sits at the intersection of research and writing, with clear accountability for the quality and defensibility of the contracts we put into the world. You'll be a primary operator responsible for originating new markets, defining how they settle and what data resolves them, writing the filings that bring them to life, and pressure-testing every idea — yours and your colleagues' — before anyone outside does. Success in this role comes from reasoning fast in unfamiliar territory, a broad knowledge base, and an obsession with detail.

Requirements

  • A contrarian instinct in the real sense — you reason from the ground up and resist conforming, but you're not contrarian for its own sake; handed a problem, you ask clarifying questions before assuming the framing is right
  • Strong extemporaneous reasoning — you can summon and defend an argument on its merits, and just as readily argue the other side
  • Genuine awareness of the world and how its cause-and-effect relationships govern markets and behavior
  • A bias toward action and ownership — the failure mode for a team this smart is becoming a think tank, full of good ideas and short on shipped product; we need do-ers
  • A broad knowledge base, ideally someone who doesn’t need to do a days’ worth of research on major questions of markets, politics, culture, and sports in order to discuss them and their nuances thoroughly

Responsibilities

  • Originate new markets — taking a vague hunch through to a fully specified, defensible contract
  • Write the CFTC filings that get contracts approved
  • Define resolution criteria and source settlement providers for markets that have never been listed anywhere
  • Pressure-test ideas from every angle — find the missing argument, the manipulation vector, and the settlement edge case before they find you
  • Reason from first principles when dropped into an industry you've never worked in, and build the framework everyone else reasons from
