About The Position

Serving as an industry expert and key customer advocate, the Market Segment Manager drives new product development, strengthens customer and industry relationships, and ensures effective market communication. This position plays a critical role in supporting a business portfolio exceeding $500 million in sales while advancing Sherwin-Williams' long-term growth strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Developing, implementing, leading and executing the strategic marketing plans for the Building Products Segment.
  • Achieve established financial goals, particularly sales and margin objectives.
  • Development and execution of the segment strategy.
  • Create and maintain key industry relationships and develop into an industry expert.
  • Partner with Sales and Marketing Communications to implement an external and internal segment communications strategy.
  • Collaborate with the R&D team and Commercial to drive the development and commercialization of new products and services.
  • Stay within budget and schedule in achieving the above results.
  • Clearly define the potential market, product opportunity and customers within the industry through segmentation of focus market and sub-focus market opportunities.
  • Build the business and marketing strategy for the segment, including plans for growth through existing markets, adjacent markets, new markets, existing technologies and new product development.
  • Collaboration and communication with Technical, Commercial, and Supply Chain to execute strategy.
  • Support the Operating Plan development and execution of the Coil division strategy.
  • Prepare data and analysis for regular business reviews.
  • Support the Coil commercial organization at the strategic and tactical account level through targeting, lead generation, sales tool development, pricing guidance, and collaborative selling.
  • Maintain direct contact with key customers and suppliers in the segment to stay on top of evolving trends.
  • Drive specification of Sherwin-Williams products.
  • Support Commercial in development of proposals and presentations.
  • Provide competitive intelligence and positioning.
  • Be actively involved in industry associations.
  • Create pro-forma financials to evaluate any investment opportunities.
  • Conduct Voice of Customer activities with key customers to determine future development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Commercial and Product Marketing to build the short-term and long-term new product development (NPD) roadmap for the segment.
  • Maintain the product portfolio through new product development, technical transfers, product launches, and life cycle analysis in collaboration with Commercial, Technical and Product Marketing.
  • Develop the business case for new product development and determine allocation and prioritization of technical resources.
  • Seek out enterprise opportunities and drive projects with key accounts.
  • Support Commercial organization in creating effective sales and marketing tools, collateral, and events.
  • Create an annual marketing communication plan in conjunction with the marcom team.
  • Act as the liaison between the Enterprise team and the business.
  • Research and Analyze industry data to support development of sales demand plan.
  • Design and deliver market and product training internally and externally.
  • Work with Technical Director to direct and/or author papers for presentation at industry conferences, or for publication in industry trades.
  • Creative development.
  • Market perception and customer satisfaction research.
  • Support the meeting of customer expectations.
  • Design the Sherwin-Williams brand plan, including brand development, leverage, extension, and portfolio management of existing and new sub-brands.
