This role supports the execution of accurate and efficient reporting solutions for risk, regulatory, and management information to internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies. It contributes to an efficient and effective risk management function by utilizing common information sources and practices, reducing ongoing costs, increasing service level performance, and minimizing risk. The analyst will break down strategic problems, analyze data and information to provide insights and recommendations, and act as a resource for less experienced team members. The position involves leading or assisting with the maintenance, monitoring, measurement, and reporting on the status of risk reporting strategies' performance. It also includes designing, developing, and implementing reporting solutions to meet management and regulatory reporting requirements, and providing advice and guidance on the implementation of analytical and reporting solutions. The role executes work to deliver timely, accurate, and efficient service for scheduled reporting production processes, and supports the maintenance, monitoring, and measurement of key risk indicators. The analyst will analyze data and information to provide risk-related insights and recommendations for the assigned portfolio, such as capital at risk modeling and risk/return assessments. They will also support the interpretation of internal and external policies and regulatory requirements relevant to the analytics and reporting mandate, and work with various data owners to discover and select available data sources from internal and external vendors. Ensuring strong governance and effective controls across risk reporting activities and information in accordance with enterprise standards is crucial. The role involves analyzing data and highlighting significant information, including variances, trends, opportunities, and exposures, and escalating as required. It also provides information and support for internal and external audits, gathers and formats data into reports and dashboards, and supports the development and execution of strategic initiatives. Building effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders and supporting the maintenance of operational procedures and processes are key. Additionally, the role supports the development of tools and training focused on awareness and understanding of key data elements used in risk reporting, and participates in the design, implementation, and management of core business processes to ensure the accuracy of risk data. Organizing work information for accuracy and completeness is also a responsibility. The focus is primarily on the business/group within BMO, though a broader, enterprise-wide focus may be assigned. The role exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules, and works independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations. Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed. The role requires taking measured risks while protecting the bank by applying the Risk Management Framework, in line with the Risk Culture and within the approved Risk Appetite, making sound and risk-informed decisions that align with business strategy, protect assets, and adhere to applicable policy documents, laws, and regulations.
